Many tasks simply require repeatability and consistency. By utilizing robotics, you can improve eliminate variation in your production.
Welding robots are a perfect example of this concept. Unlike a human welder, who may experience fatigue or slight tremors over an eight-hour shift, a robotic arm maintains a steady travel speed and torch angle indefinitely.
Consequently, manufacturers can achieve a higher throughput with minimal scrap, turning a traditionally labor-intensive craft into a streamlined, high-output process.
Eliminate Waste and Bottlenecks
Sometimes heavy lifting and safety isn’t the primary concern, sometimes the tasks are tedious and repetitive. This is a great example of how automation can be used to rapidly complete tedious tasks on small parts.
For this client, small pieces which are tedious for humans to grip and move quickly created a significant bottle neck. Sensitive parts were often dropped, damaged, and discarded.
By utilizing custom grippers and high speed actuation, we were able to significantly increase throughput, while reducing errors, and virtually eliminating product waste.
Reduce Injuries and Increase Throughput
Material handling can be a labor intensive task, and often times dangerous. By utilizing automation and robotics, our clients are able to speed up their processes, and improve worker safety.
For this client, moving and stacking material as it was cut to length required several people, posed safety issues, and was a significant bottleneck.
We were able to create a complete solution to safely and quickly move the material from the cutting line to a staging area, where tightly stacked material could be lifted using a crane and moved to the next location. Throughput increased significantly, and workers are now safer.
